I bought a willams GG 1 and would like to convert it to TMCC. The ERR site show a mini TMCC but not a regular TMCC converting board. Has anyone done this, any idea of price for such a thing. Thanks, Fred

You can use either the DC Commander or Cruise Commander. I put a Cruise Commander in mine along with a NLA Sound Commander. It might be a tight fit to install Railsounds with a speaker in there along with the TMCC boards.

how much do these parts cost? thanks
You can get the ERR Cruise Commander and the RailSounds Commander with the GG-1 audio from Modern Toy Train Parts for $185 for the package. That's Boxcar Bill's site, he's on the forum here. Both of these will fit fine in the Williams GG-1, I've done it.
Thanks so much for the info, I will contact this boxcarbill, whom I have heard of. I bought this gg1 at Trainworld when I was in Brooklyn Wednesday. It was a very good price. It seemed a perfect candidate to convert to use tmcc. A scale gg 1 from Lionel is costly.
Norton, how difficult would you say the work was to do, Are you pleased with the results?
Gunnrunner, Thanks so much for the info.

PS anyone know what the g in gg 1 stands for?
Fred, My mistake. I have a traditional GG1. You should have plenty of room in the scale version. The installation is not too difficult. Its generally the mechanical part that takes more time than installing the electronics. Like making the holes for the Program/Run switch or speaker mount. Not sure how the pantographs are mounted on the scale version but with the traditional engine I used them as the antenna.
BTW you can go to the ERR website and download the manuals to see what is involved. There are pictures of a few different installations.

Believe it or not, I installed the Cruise Commander and RailSounds Commander in the traditional unit. Yes, the scale unit will make that even easier, but it's possible in the conventional unit.

I had a scale Williams GG1 converted a couple of years ago. There is a speaker in the unit so it's fairly easy to replace it with a better one. No need to make any additional holes. Never bothered with an external run/program switch just had the engine programmed to engine number 25 during the conversion.
One of the fellow formuites Jeff Sohm, who was doing customer painting at the time, changed out the numbers on the engine, number boards, and the keystones for me to reflect the new number of the engine for the crewtalk and towercom so that they would match.
I used the pantographs as the antennas as well. There was already a switch hole for the run/pgm switch, so that was easy.
Here's a thread in the ModelTrainForum where I detailed the conversion. Of interest might be how I get electrocouplers installed, it was a bit of work. Below is one of the pictures of the completed conversion right before I dressed the wires and put it together.
