Can you convert a modern MTH Locomotive to a Lionel TMCC technology?

Sure can, all it takes is money.
Scott Mann @ 3rd Rail is your new "Electric Railroad" friend these days for this conversion. Throw a Cruise Commander and Railsounds Lite board into your MTH locomotive and continue on in TMCC.
Piece of cake, I've done a number of such conversions.
I've done both steam and diesel. Just this past week, converted an F3A to TMCC with Sunset 3rd Rail ERR Cruise Commander and Railsounds. I have a 2nd F3A that I am doing now.

Depending on the MTH locomotive, the hardest part is locating the ERR boards. I've done over a dozen.
No problem locating the ERR boards, what do you need?
John, I meant locating them in the particular engine that is being converted, not acquiring them.

That's different, but it's normally not a big issue nowadays. The sound module is nice and small, I've stuck it to the roof of some diesels, and I stand it vertically in steam if I can, that way I can have a hole for the volume control in the frame.
