Couldn't update Cab2 base from 1.52 to 1.62 | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Successfully update my own Cab2 and Base2 to 1.72 and 1.62 respectfully via two black modules, one containing 1.72 and the other containing 1.62. Took the black modules to my friends place, and could update Cab2, but Base2 failed with 6 blinks yellow LED error - couldn't verify. Since I used the black modules on my Cab2/Base2, I feel these aren't the problem.

Tried several times to update Base2, always got 6 blinks error. I even reburned the black module successfully on my friend's Base2, but my friend's Base2 still failed with 6 blinks error.

I found on the forum a thread that bottom lined to the Base2 needing to go back to Lionel for repair.

I am writing this post to find out if there is any new answers on this update fail.

Also would like to know if anyone knows of problems running with Base2 at 1.52 and Cab2 at 1.72? My friend uses minimal Legacy commands, and we had no problem running the trains he had on the layout with this Base2/Cab2 combination.

There could be issues, but generally I suspect most normal stuff will run fine. I do believe that will have to go back to Lionel at this point.

Send it to Lionel. They will repair the base for free. And also cover shipping
