Just finished painting up a VO-1000 to a Crown Zellerbach logging loco. I had picked up this old MTH engine cheap with some body damage, did some repairs and had been looking to see what would be a good paint scheme. I had recalled seeing the original engine on Vancouver Island and liked the bright orange paint scheme, + needed something to pull 10 log flats I have. It ran for the logging company near Ladysmith. This engine was built in 1943 by Baldwin for the US Army, it was purchased for moving log trains in 1960 by CZ. It often ran with a tank car with water to put out any fires along the line. I picked the nicely detailed tool car and it looks fitting on the back of a 10 car train of logs. The start up and running sounds are great on this engine, here running around my large ceiling loop over the main layout. If you want to see some photos of the real engine look up Crown Zellerbach VO-1000 on line.
