So again nothing I stated was wrong, but you have to jump in with an insult or sarcasm.  It seems you make assumptions to make your point of view the only correct one.

These become historical post others can learn from, so it doesn't hurt if there is a little more detail in the answer.  G

Tom's problem was also TMCC, so your comment still is totally off topic.  Just admit you were wrong and move on.

Shawn, others,

I will double check the manual, to make sure it calls out the example install as non-optimal.  The example shows a way to fit the upgrade in tight spaces, if no other way is possible to fit the PCBs.

Note: I am not saying it is non-functional, just pointing out that you can experience  a 3-5 db drop in TMCC signal by mounting the RS board above the Radio.  If you experience signal issues with an upgrade, keep this in mind.

You are very arrogant, must be nice to be better than everyone else.  You might just want to go back and look at how you address folks in some of your post.

So I was wrong for posting, or was my information wrong?  Because if the technical content was wrong, I would certainly want to correct that.  But if you are going to tell me my post wasn't worth of your technical acumen, than please accept my deepest apology for offending you.   G

Interesting about the signal drop. Labeling the picture non-optimal, but minimum space is good.

You quite regularly criticize my posts as being "not on topic", just wanted you to know how it feels.

The instructions say to use two layers of tape. BTW, 3 to 5 db is 1/2 to near 1/4 of the signal that you would have without mounting the RS board above the R4LC.

If you could mount the board vertically along side the rest of the commander and R4LC, that would be much better.

It is more of just keeping them apart best you can.  Unless you are seeing issues I would not change anything.

I have my new Railsounds board mounted (via a single layer of double-faced tape) on top of the R4LC in my Railking RS3 (just like the instructions said) and have not noticed any problems.

I did have a problem once, but found that somehow I had managed to poke the antenna connector down towards the board without it actually being on the terminal post.  Drove me nuts until I noticed it.

I'll keep an eye on it just in case

I just finished one with 2 layers between the R4LC and the Sound Commander. Works well. Also plenty loud with the speaker inside and just no windows in the GP9.
