It has been going on for years now.In the summer time csx lease a lot of up power.I have seen whole set of up power.Sd70m dash 9s and even a bnsf dash 9.So if any one out there have up and csx on their layout. You can do a lash up with csx and up.I know this happens in my area every summer.I been seeing a lot of up power as of late.So does any body have csx and up power together on their layout?

It is very common to see other roads' power units on various companies' track and it is fun to model. Many of those movements are related to contracts railroads have to haul product that may need to move over a competitor's routes. Are you sure CSX is leasing the power units from UP?
we don't lease out, per say. However, we lease from MEI, First Union, Basell etc... When these motive power companies such as MEI, etc... lease to the railroads, sometimes they don't repaint them. When a short term lease is needed they won't spend money on a repaint. Most often they just strike out or remove the road name, especially if its only a reflective sticker. Of course, there may be other situations out there happening I'm not aware of.
The foreign power you see on different roads is either on run through trains or paying back horsepower hours owed to that railroad. I don't believe there is that much leasing between the major railroads lately. A lot of engines are stored and new sales are low, for now........
There is a hot CSX/UP train which comes through Houston. Both roads' power it. Short intermodal with some Tropicana refers at the end.
Not a leasing arrangement. UP and CSX have been working together on a shipping arrangement for years.

The units I saw had the american flag on them. And all up reporting marks nothing was marked out.And had very little dirt no rust any where. These units were in good shape. In fact for a week the local had a up unit with a sd40-3.Also the bnsf unit had all its reporting marks to nothing was marked out.I have even seen ns units there first few widecab dash 9s and a few sd60s.And high hood geeps on the baltic line in charlotte. If fact over the years I have seen sd45wc,sooline,cnw,cn,sp.Its just we get a boat loud of up power during the summer. The only power I have not seen is fec power.I have seen some of their flatcars thou.

Not in my area.Csx tries to keep it csx power. But other railroads units show up.But mostly what I see is up.Ns units have shown up from time to time.Such as high hood geeps,sd60 and dash 9.In fact the local had a ns sd60 for a time. Now I have seen csx units on ns tracks.Three csx cw44s on ns main line just out side charoltte nc.What I saying is the best chance to see forein power. On csx is in the summer time. Its been like this for years now.
I am 5 minutes from the CSX River Line and all summer we have seen BNSF, CN, CP, NS and the occasional KCS pulling auto, oil, hoppers, trash, bulkhead, stack and trailers. Its been a blast train watching on the line. Typically we see the CSX from Ridgefield Park to Selkirk, NY.
Given the state of the railroad business right now, none of the Class 1 railroads would be leasing power. They all have hundreds of units stored!

You'd be surprised...We definitely are.
I read an article just the other day that a govt. agency sent HH at CSX a letter telling hem to improve their operating performance. Evidently the numbers look good but customers aren't happy. Typical.
