Paul: you must have seen Weaver's last two catalogs, both illustrating the Milwaukee Road rib side box car. They are now within a few weeks of shipping these cars and I have seen the early pilot models. Absolutely perfect! A beautiful rendition of the 1939 and early 1940's box car that was so distinctive and built in the Milwaukee Road shops. The small detail on these cars are exceptionally well done with very fine added on details.
Weaver will be offering these cars in a number of different, but prototype paint schemes that represent different times in their existence. Over the years, the Milwaukee built over 13,500 of these basic cars, including the variations; there were 40' single door, 40' double door, 50' single door and 50' double door cars in that count. They were truly ubiquitous in that every railroad in the country ran them at some time or another, so every "0" gauger should own at least a couple of these cars.
As to a special run, I'm sure that Weaver would be glad to accommodate your special requirements, although I don't know of any more prototypical paint jobs they would have available to do.
Get your orders in right now because these are going to be wonderful sellers and the assembly of them is very intricate and they can't turn them out as quickly as some of their previous cars. They are, incidentally, all made right here in the good, old, U.S.A.
