Darstaed's latest loco release, the Pannier, comes hot on the heels of the Jinty. It is being launched in the UK this weekend, with Darstaed principal, Andries Grabowsky flying in for the day to do the honors.

Andries showed me the loco last night via Skype and it is a beauty. This GWR icon will be a popular loco, no doubt. Also, those of you waiting for the colored Jinties, they are on the production line now too.

Has anyone successfully installed an electronic E unit in the Ace or Darstaed line, especially the smaller tank engines.  As my layout is AC for Hornby and Lionel, etc, its a bit of a pain to have to change from AC to DC.  When these new locos were first introduced they had a internal switch that could be changed over but for some reason this has been dropped.  A mistake considering the potential US market.

Also are the tanks suitable for Lionel 031?

I think the Pannier has an AC/DC switch. An E unit would fit, you would need to use a small Lionel one. They are not suitable for 031. I think 048 would be the minimum, it has a flange on the centre driver.

The Pannier does not share a common chassis/running gear with the Jinty, but as I mentioned to Brian, I think it has an AC/DC switch.
