I was fortunate enough to be able to go with my niece and nephew to the "Day Out With Thomas" at Greenfield Village this last weekend.  It was a beautiful day and they had a blast but I unfortunately had to leave before we got to the O gauge layout.  Can anyone here give me any info on this layout?  Who runs it, how big, etc.?  Also if anyone has any pictures they can post, I'd really like to see them.

Did anyone else on the board go to this event?

Eric the layout belongs to the Detroit Historical Society and is run by the members of the Glancy Trains Modular Group of which Jim, myself and several others here are members.  The layout was configured small for this venue and focused on Thomas and Friends and targeted the youngsters attending the event.

Here are a few other sights observed yesterday..

Thanks, Charlie!  I was pretty sure it had to be an organization that was represented here.  My nephew really loved the layout and was there for well over an hour on Saturday.

I also appreciate the extra shots.  I did get one of the steam crane in operation as we rode by but was not able to get back for a closer look.

The TORCH LAKE is a favorite of mine.  I had a cab ride in it many years ago, in winter.  I had some fun blowing its whistle at grade crossings.  It was originally used in the copper mining region of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

I think I saw you outside the roundhouse with your 3D camera setup on Saturday

That prewar set running (1688 torpedo locomotive) belongs to my younger brother.  He talked me into bringing it and had fun running it on Saturday.

I'm hoping to get a volunteer position next year (when I turn 18) around the Roundhouse working on the real trains which is what I was talking to that fireman about when you walked up.  I met him last year and he's been taking care of me with setting that up

And Eric, I think Charlie answered your questions.  We have fun with that layout
