Being that I have my tortoise units wired as such, it's a real bummer when they all throw to an "off" position upon power up. Is there a work around to this without having to use latching relays and the SW ports?

Arrange the wiring to each AIU Acc port terminal "1" and "2" so that each switch track throws to whatever is the default position for that switch track at power-up.
Yes, that should do it.
One last thing as something just hit me. Isn't this the equivalent of swapping wires at the tortoise? If so I'm going to have to rewire my brain to know which turnouts are straight and which are curved upon power up.
Looks like latching relays on the SW ports are inevitable if I want to retain last position regardless of power condition.

That's correct.

That would also be correct.
Ok then looks like I'm all set with a game plan. Thanks again for all the help
