I have a Legacy layout power by as ZW-C under Legacy control.  While I have a predominance of Lionel locomotives, I do have a couple MTH PS2/3 pieces that have been in the boxes for quite a while.  I have a DCS Explorer with an MTH power brick that I have used for an MTH O gauge Christmas train under the tree.

Is there a way to use the DCS Explorer passively on my Legacy layout.  I can't see a way but I'm not expert and thought it would be worth asking the question.

I guess, if I have to, I'll be looking for a TIU w Wifi.

Thanks for the help.

Reviewing the topic, it did not include all of the big picture of the schematic. You need to provide DCS isolation- an inductor in series with your AC track power source or transformer to prevent it as a source from attenuating the DCS signal.

So again, yes, you need that DCS isolation circuit at the DCS explorer output, that passes DCS signal- but prevents power (AC or DC) from backfeeding the MTH DCS exporer-

And

You need a 22uH inductor (with sufficient current rating) in series with your transformer to prevent that same DCS signal from being attenuated by your transformer being the power source.

Very educational discussion in this and the referred thread.  I'm not as interested in fabrication of circuits as I once was so I think my DCS Explorer will be reserved for under the tree, away from the Legacy setup.  If I want to run one of my two MTH locos on the Legacy layout, I'll open my TIU and set it up.  Thanks to everyone who contributed.

Happy Thanksgiving.
