You really have to start from scratch. Is the red light on in the TIU?
How are you powering the layout? Does it work without the DCS hooked up?
Pretty straight forward hooking it up. Make sure the positive and the red wire stays on the center rail.
Do you get a slight single click from an engine when the power is turned on?
what transformer are you using? If you look down in the box there should be a red light that is on.. we have to make sure you are powering the TIU and track corectly
next.make sure the red wire is going to the center rail. and the black to the outer rail coming out of the fixed 1 of the tiu.
then if the red light is on, and wired correctly hit the READ button on the remote and see if the remote can find the TIU.
if it does, then try loading an engine... what happens when you do this?
Let's start with the basic questions:
- What version of DCS are you using? is it the same in the TIU and the remote? The remote briefly displays its DCS version when it's powered on.To learn the TIU's DCS version, press:
Menu/System/TIU Setup/DCS Version
- What hardware model TIU do you have? Look for a label on the bottom of the TIU with a Rev. indicator, e.g., Rev. H. or Rev. I, etc.
- How is the TIU getting power? It must get power either via the Aux. Power port or through track power into Fixed channel #1
- There's a red LED inside the TIU. You can see it through the top grill under the near left corner when the input side of the TIU is facing you. It must be lit in order for the TIU to be operable
- When you initially power the TIU on, the red LED will blink between 1 and 5 times. The number of blinks is the TIU's ID#. How many times does your TIU's red LED blink before it comes on solid?
- Exactly what are you doing to try to operate your PS2 or PS3 engine, and exactly what happens? Be specific and complete.
hrspla,
When 1st entering into the DCS world the very best thing to do to learn how to run DCS is invest in Barry's DCS O Gauge Companion book and the OGR Video Guide to DCS, read and watch the Video to help you understand how to get started. Remove the frustration of making numerous mistakes, DCS take a little understanding to operate.
As you build your layout come back and the people here at OGR will help you with any questions you happen to have. I suggest you keep Barry's book track side as you build and test your DCS layout. In fact Barry has been kind enough to grant us permission to copy his book, after purchasing it. I did mine up in 3 ring note book style, to write notes in and keep track side.
Lots of things to learn about DCS.

I think the very first thing that should be done is to open up the TIU and reseat the Stupid RF board. I've moved my TIU a few times and had to reseat it every time. Blah.
I'm really hoping the new iPad apps and wifi receiver fix the problem.
Consider using some foam rubber to hold the board in place, solves the problem of it coming loose.
