Hello everyone I bought a proto sound 3 rail king 30-1583-1E big boy from a guy on ebay I got it today put it on the track added it to the remote but ehen I went to start it nothing. I deleted it added it again still nothing. I did a reset on it and at the end of the reset it flashed check track. I changed the draw bar no change. I took it to a conventional track nothing there either. I checked the dcc dcs switch but it wasn't there just a cut out where it should have been. Any help would be appreciated

What do you mean when you said it said flashed check track. did the reset take or not, when you do a reset from conventional you should hear 2 whistle toots which is letting you know the engine has reset! does the engine draw any current when you power it up, or is it totally silent . when you said you added engine to remote the engine add or not? sounds like you should send the engine back to the ebayer you purchased it from!

yes the engine did add to the remote but no lights no sound no movement. when I did the reset I did it with the remote and when I got to the point where it says confirm the engine I scrolled to that engine and pressed the wheel right after that it said check track. when you hit start up it also says check track. but what gets me how it adds the engine so easily. I don't think that it did the reset
There are several types of reset. Factory Reset & Feature Reset can be done from the remote; try both. A Conventional reset can only be done with no DCS signal on the track. Press the transformer whistle button once and then the bell button 5 times, at about 1/2 second intervals. If successful, there will be 2 toots. It is difficult to get the timing just right, so you may have to try a few tines.
I have experienced this several times with PS3, and leaving it sit overnight on a dead track often overcomes the problem
How did you add it? It does not make sense that the engine can operate and transmit data to add to the remote, but will not operate in conventional? Did you have other engines on the track when adding?
When you put on conventional track, no DCS present and apply voltage around 12V. Does the headlight come on? You wait 30 secs or so and it should startup with rest of lights, smoke and sounds. Given that the control pots are turned on for smoke and volume in conventional.
No way an engine that can't work can add to the remote. Makes no sense to me. G
I think I found the problem the drawbar has to be pushed up very tight. I will have to zip tie it when it goes around the track and it goes dead thanks to all who responded
Make sure ends of draw bar not damaged. It does snap in place. Also make sure engine side plug is fully seated. G
