Todd,

What you saw at the MTH booth at York was not the app. Rather, it was the mobile manifestation of Train Controller running "behind the curtain".

What you saw then has been available for some time and I have it running on my home layout. The current app, currently in beta test, is better looking although not as full-featured. The next app is designed to be a "super DCS Remote" with some features currently not available in the DCS Remote.

I agree with John. You must not forget that your smartphone is a PHONE! Let's face it... The moment you start running trains using an app on your smartphone it's gonna ring off the hook!

If apps for running our railroads do come out, I would try them out if they work using an iPad. But the iPad is much larger than a handheld remote so more than likely the handheld remote will be my go to controller.

Barry,

Now you are really messing with my engineering mind, I have purposely stayed away from phones with APPs, now you are telling me the next DCS great advancement is going to be via phone apps.  If the phone apps run more than the DCS hand held remote, it looks as if a new upgraded phone is going to be required, and ofcourse your book will need to have an addition for me to be able to use the darn thing correctly.

Barry just which one of these mobile phone companies do you own stock in any way.

I better purchase the correct mobile phone with the correct app.  Talk about advanced remote control, this will be it.

PCRR/Dave
