DCS TIU only fixed channels working, cannot get power through variable channels. TIU was purchased new but only needed two channels so I used the 2 fixed channels. Now I want to use another channel and found that neither variable channel works. Checked 20 amp fuses both good. Don't know what to try next?

How are you connecting it to power? You need power on the variable inputs to get anything out of them.
Have you reset the TIU to see if that helps? You can also set them in fixed mode if you're running command, otherwise you have to select them and increase the voltage.
I have the exact same problem with my TIU which also was purchased new. Recently I tried to use the variable channels and could not get either one to work, only the fixed voltage channel will work properly.
Will be interested in the fix to your problem as well as mine.
You'll have to go into your remote and change the variable channels to fixed channels. Then you can connect a power source to each channel (transformer). The TIU will put a constant 18 volts to each channel.
I run them as fixed all the time. If I happen to need variable power on a track, just selecting it on the remote and changing the voltage reverts it to variable operation until the next power cycle on that TIU channel.
If you know the fuses are good, with the TIU powered via Fixed 1 or the Aux port, you need to Power the VAR of your choice also with a transformer and than select the VAR channel via the remote and raise voltage. If this does not work, than most likely a Power FET has gone bad. It is repairable. If this is a new TIU I would send back for replacement or Warranty work. G

fdg, if the TIU is still under warranty, I'd get it fixed if you ever want to run conventional.
