Get Barry's book, DCS companion guide. Don't pass go until you do.
Here is the link to the download page: http://www.protosound2.com/
In the DCS Software Updates table, download "DCS Version 5.00" and "DCS Consumer Loader Program". The Consumer Loader will do the upgrade of the system and provides step-by-step instructions along the way. The DCS Version 5.00 file has the upgrade code.
Barry's book goes into great detail. He has an ebook available that you can download. Here is the link: http://ogaugerr.com/the-dcs-companion-3rd-edition/

Thanks, I have the first edition and read through it. I upgraded my original TIU to 3.1 with my old XP computer and I can recall it required initial downloads prior to downloading newer upgrades.. My concern now is the DCS remote was factory reset, nothing on it and this laptop has none of the older loader programs installed. I don't know if just the two downloads on a new laptop will get me where I need to go?

This should be all you need. Give it a try. You can't hurt anything by trying the upgrade. I have done several upgrades and am now at 5.0. It only seems to get easier. So, if you have done a 3.1 upgrade, you should be fine with 5.0. If you have any trouble, come back to the forum, and I am sure you will get an answer.

Thanks George. Upgrade went perfect.. It sounded intimidating and confusing but it was far easier then I first imagined. You just need to follow ALL the instructions carefully. Now its on to the WiFi....
