I have set up the Wifi and downloaded the app from the App store. Some questions:

1, Works fine when I use the MTH router, but does not see my home wifi. It is switched from MTH to home, but I get a "can't locate TIU"message and something about making sure the address on the iPad is the same as the home router (it is). ???

2, I wanted to change the name of an engine, went edit, created the new name and hit saved.  Response said something like no change made.

3,   I first downloaded the App from the App store then went back and purchased the upgrade.  Question, how do I know if I have the upgraded version?  What if I want to also want to put it on my iPhone (another $5.00 charge) not that I'm complaining, well worth the money, just curious.

Really have to say I'm impressed.  MTH has done it again.

Have you downloaded the full wifi manual from the MTH web site?  I strongly recommend that you do so.  There you shall find:

For Routers with WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)
1. Attach the antenna to the WIU.
2. Set the MTH/HOME selector switch to HOME.
3. Conned the WIU to your TIU with a USB cable (included*).
4. Apply track power through the TIU.
5. Plug the WIU into an AC wall outlet.
6. Wait 1 minute for the WIU to initialize. When ready, the PWR, WI-FI, and TIU LEDS
will be lit.
7. Press the WPS BUTTON on you’re your home Wi-Fi router and then press and release.
WPS BUTTON on your WIU. Note, some routers may require you to press and hold the
WPS BUTTON for several seconds. Check the manual for your specific router.
8. Wait until the white WPS LED on the WIU is on steadily. It will go off after a few
minutes.
9. If you haven’t already, go to the iOS App Store or Google Play Store and install the app
on your smart device. Search for MTH DCS to quickly find the app in either app store.
10. Open the app and tap RUN MY TRAINS.
11. Tap CHOOSE OR ADD AN ENGINE the tap ADD MTH ENGINE and follow the prompts.
12. Tap START UP and enjoy running your trains in Wi-Fi DCS!

If your home router doesn't have a WPS button, the language following the above in the manual covers it.

I haven't tried changing any engine names.  I still handle all of that stuff on a designated remote, from which I clone other remotes.  Then when I add a loco to the app, it comes in as I want it.  Be careful if you have different names or ID numbers on remotes and app device.

I have no idea how you can tell from an app which version you have.
