MTH produced four O-gauge EMD Aerotrain sets; the models were decorated for NYC, PRR, UP, and Rock Island. I sought and found several RI coaches to add to my Aerotrain and create a prototypical train set with 10 coaches, but I need ONE MORE as the 10th coach. The RI version is hardest to find.
Here's my tip for other operators/collectors seeking coaches of the RI version ...
The NYC coaches are available via eBay, and they have NO DECOR markings. I found a NYC coach at a dealer, bought it, and applied RI F3 diesel nose decals to the sides of the "plain" NYC coach. Presto -- a perfect identity change!
I'll soon know if the Aerotrain loco will pull all 10 coaches around my L-shaped layout with O42 curves.
