This is the mill from our Forum member Alex that my wife gave me for Valentine's Day. This beautiful building has caused me to rethink an area on my layout in order to accommodate this structure. This is a good thing as I just needed a push to redo an area that is about 24 ft. by 7 ft. I am going to take what is basically a passenger train storage yard and make it into a large passenger train station complex. The mill will be placed at the edge of this area with a water feed from my existing waterfront area. I am looking forward to this project.

Thanks for posting this wonderful photo, of the grain mill. You must have a really good camera because it even looks better than the photo's I took of it. I'm really looking forward to seeing it on your layout.

Those of us who don't buy into the hype don't need a special day to tell  friends, family or loved ones they are special. We let them know every day they are special and meaningful in our lives. No exhorbitantly expensive cards, jewelry or presents. Many years of observation have show  me that Valentine's Day is a great day for the people who abuse or neglect their friendships and relationships to try to buy their way back into good graces, or princesses that demand something better than their girlfriends got.

My wife gave me nothing in the way of a present, but went along with my impulse buy of an expensive loco after reading a review of it in OGR magazine, so she definately had the Valentine spirit.

 

BTW - I am surprised at the number of people - not just here on the forum but at work and among neighbors, etc., who are "bah humbug" with regard the Valentines Day - it is a "manufactured special day" but its a nice sentiment even if the main beneficiaries are the the coffers of the greeting card and flower vendors.

I agree with both of you gentlemen, Lee and Allan. As for the sentiments of other posters, of course couples should make every day a celebration of their love and respect for each other. Such behaviour should at the very least be considered the norm and not indicative of something special or extraordinary in a  relationalship. So why not take one day to go above and beyond "your" normal by doing something more special than what you normally do to honor your loved one on the other 364 days of each year?
BTW, a 2013 survey shows only 60% of American's who have someone special in their life plan to celebrate Valentine's Day and those people will spend an average of $126.03 to celebrate the day. That's a lower percentage than I thought it would be.

We should have named him Lionel Preorder -- we found out about him 9 months ago, he came a a little over a week late based on his promised delivery date, and didn't look the same as the ultrasound photo, LOL. 

 

 

Congratulations.   I imagine that by now you have tested out his sound  system?
