Hello Friends,

Ok i am completely puzzled and disgusted at the same time, I never had this happen to me but here goes.  I have a old very good working ZWR and a New ZW with 2 power packs that are working fine when fooling around with a plain oval fastrack but when i completed my track 8' x 16' and was ready to test the track out both transformers keep going out, and resetting with no signs of life on any of my engines that i used to test track and i have no ideas why this is happening to me when i have used both transformers/controllers and trains before.

I do have also not pictured is 5 prewar switches set up using fastrack transition tracks and O Gauge pins but once again this isn't rocket science to set up a fastrack and 2 ZW Old & New several times before and to get to this conclusion for nothing to work no power no train lights and all both ZW Transformers just power for 5 seconds the green light turns bright and link the breaker pops and the zw red light goes on and then the power resets, keep in mind besides the switches being set up i have nothing else hooked up yet , no signals, no crossing guards, nothing except fastrack switches a right and a left and 4 prewar switches so this has me puzzled and disgusted to come this far to stop in m y track and not figure out what is going on with not 1 but both transformers (zw).

I haven't needed to take any pictures of my new ZW with 2 power packs so that's why it's not listed.

I would gladly listen to any help, input you can give me.

Thank You so Much.

You obviously have a short circuit somewhere. If your track isn't glued down I would break it up into sections until the short goes away. Then troubleshoot until you find it. Good luck and keep us posted.

I second this - a meter is your friend

did you bench test the 022 postwar switches? having them on track power and a problem could cause a short. Sometimes, we simply hook up the track wires backwards - it's happened to all of us

Hello,

Well i found out it was the old switches as to once i removed them and replaced them with a very good deal from a very nice 90 yr old man (Bill) who sells lionel trains out of his home for 25+ years gave me a sweet deal 2 used electric fastrack switches for $50 each mint cond,  so after i changed a few things around the track was secured down and both zw's were running with no outages and tomorrow i will start adding all my signal lights, & everything else.

Thanks for everyone's help it is a real pleasure knowing I can come grab a coffee and throw out any problem I might have and know one or all of you will always be there to lend a hand to fix what ever is broken.
