Do people ever use DCC decoders instead of TMCC on their 3 rail O gauge trains?  Or is that sort of a rarity?

I'm interested in learning more about these decoders (if it turns out they exist and are remotely popular).

If they are out there could someone please give me the name of one so I can google it and learn more?

Hi gigasaurus,

As Bob said, DCC is an extreme rarity in 3-rail O.  There are some very good technical reasons as well as historic and marketing reasons why DCC never took off in 3-rail O.  TMCC actually uses the DCC command codes, but uses a different technology than DCC to transmit the codes from the command base to the engines.

At the moment, your options for after market decoders in common 3-rail O command control are limited to the Electric RR decoders for TMCC/Legacy and MTH PS2 decoders for DCS.
