All Premier trains, No Railking trains.............Rogerw.

Both
I have a question that is relevant to this discussion. If you buy a MTH re-release that used to be a Premier, but now its branded a Railking, does that count? I have a GP-20 that came in a Railking box, but when it was first issued it was a Premier.
I consider it an older Premier, regardless of the box it came in. Clearly it is not as detailed as some of the new offerings. But its still 1:48 (I think)
All of my MTH is scale size. Most boxes say Premier, some say Railking. All the same to me.
Pete
Mostly Railking. Some Premier (a triplet of hot metal cars and a flatcar), plus a few Lionel O-27 cars.

Thanks Martin for noticing that some folks just aren't happy unless they are posting there "rectum responses" to a thread that they have no reason commenting on.
As to the OPs question...my inventory shows...
in PS1...18 locomotives... 10 Premier... 8 Railking
in PS2/PS3 68 locomotives ...12 Premier ....56 Railking
and as to Martins question on how I distinguish from what was premier and now railking ? My inventory is based on "as delivered" ...purple boxes are premier and yellow are railking. I know some of the early premier stuff has been demoted.Another way is of course the 20- or 30- prefix.
I have two mth F3 railking engines.
I have three mth GP35,SD50 and SD40-2 premier engines.
I have mixed premier and railking cars.
20/30 mix.. mostly 20
All Premier trains. 3 locomotives 60 rolling stock.
More Premier than Rail King. Ratio is about 2 to 1.

I have both. More Premier than RailKing, all diesels, no steam. Also have some RailKing Scale (the old Premier), but I still consider it RailKing as that's what the box says. Also have Premier and RailKing rolling stock, quite a bit more Premier than RaiilKing in this category.

Yes, It counts as an older premier engine.
Steam engines are all Rail King PS2. Limited space for those larger radius curves.
I, personally, have an equal mix of both. I will be getting some o54 curves so I can run some bigger engines in the future on my ping pong table layout.
We have both although my collection is 99% scale oriented. Some of the 'RK Scale' offerings are quite nice. These Scale RS3's are an example
as is this RK Scale Dash 8. Both lack some of the small detail pieces that distinguish the Premiere models but in most other aspects they are full scale proportioned models.
Same electronics in both Premiere & RK by the way
The lead BNSF unit is a Premiere and yet they look quite good together.

Used to have a more substantial Premier fleet but got rid of it except one car, a MTH Premier Scale Test Car from circa 1999, as I like the car and it really fits in well with Railking items. Everything else is MTH Railking, with a preference to the Imperial products.
im 100% premier- i would consider the railking "scale" that is made now,but those horrible trucks w/ those inside flangless plastic wheels keep me away.
also, thanks martin and bob,i could not agree more.-jim
One Texas Pacific Mohawk Rail King, one Atlas MKT Scale diesel, and one K-Line Scale Mikado. Rolling stock is all scale, either Atlas, K-Line scale or MTH Premier, with the exception of about three Lionel Standard O that I keep because they are so neatly detailed. BTW, I think Rail King cars are about the size of Lionel Standard O, but without the detailing of the Lionel cars.
All my engines are Railking with the exception of 1 Premier CSX engine.

A bit more Premier than RailKing, but if a RK piece appeals to me, I'll get it (subways, natch).
One example is the MTHRRC S70ACE. While I did get the subsequent "company colors" Premier diesels, and had tentative plans to MU all three, the appearance of a "company-color" RK ES44 led me to order one so now I'll have doubleheaded "CC" units in both product lines. They're both going to be pulling York boxcar trains, so realism is kind of a moot point with those.
Another example is the chrome-plated RK tank cars. Been buying those too.
I also made a suggestion to MTH to look into three-packs of modern tankers done up as crude-oil unit trains in both RK and Premier. It wouldn't take much to convince me to build a train out of both lines if the suggestion were to come to fruition.

Except that Premier and RailKing were both out before DCS. And in my case, all my MTH locomotives are pre DCS.
But of the 11 locomotives I have from MTH, 4 are Premier and the rest RailKing. I don't pick mine for detail. I pick for the model of locomotive and that can fit tighter curves. One of the Premiers was a gift, so I had no say, and the other 3 just happen to be the locomotive I wanted. If I had found them in RailKing, I would of gotten them.
1 each diesel
I try to avoid the earlier RK items due to compression and lack of detail. However with the later MTH RK items, it may not matter due to all the changes MTH has made over the years. Later cabooses and diesels are basically the same in size. There are actually two RK sizes, True O and traditional compressed.
Stick with Premier rolling stock unless you want to add RK’s to your traditional Lionel.
Not me, I’m trying to sell most of my traditional toy Lionel items.
RK Subways are oversized, which I could never understand either.
My steamers are mostly Railking. Have more Premier diesels than Railking. Never gave this much thought. I just bought what I liked.
I had to think about it:
1 Railking Imperial 0-6-0
1 Railking RS3
1 Railking 2-8-0
1 Railking NW2
1 Railking 2-8-0 turned into a 4-6-0 by using a Weaver chassis (would that be a Railver or Weavking???)
Don't know why no Premier engines, must be too costly for me or not in the RR I want.
I have far more premier trains. I have 13 premier engines vs only two RK scale engines. The few RK cars I have are all part of my patriotic trains collection; no RK cars on my 1949 themed layout.
Ron
Of my MTH stuff 2 premier engines and a mix of premier and railking freight cars.
90% Premier, 10% Railking in MTH.
Jack
50-1 Premier
I have 15 Premier locos and three Railking.
Locomotives are all Premier or Rail King Scale, except for one RK Hiawatha left over from the Proto-1 era.. Rolling stock is 80% or more Premier. I have a few Rail King cars left over from before I decided to concentrate on scale size, and I do buy an occasional Rail King beer reefer. I also have some RK 19th Century rolling stock, which I run with a Premier 2-8-0. I'd buy scale 19th century rolling stock if there was any, but there isn't so I settle for the RK. Most of the Rail King will probably wind up in the hands of my grand-nephews when they get a little older.
Most of my MTH motive power is Premier with some RK Scale that has not been made in the premier line.
Both. Premier FT and F3 ABA sets and a Camelback, Railking 4-8-2 Steamer and NW2
Right about 50/50 on Premier and RailKing.
