i was digging through my spare parts today and things just started clicking together. i found a mpc era 8905 dockside shell and a 41 gas turbine switcher with a broken cab and front truck. it took some hacking but i think the two make a nice combo. i even added a headlight.
lots of odd ball parts here, the headlight lens and front coupler came from a weird all plastic kline alco i had. the front truck and headlight bulb are from a 18430 crew car, the stack is for an 8512, with a spacer made from the wheel of a hot wheels car. the guides for the side rods are made from one of those big black paper clip clamps, i also trimmed the bell and whistle down for a more modern look.
about the stack, when i tried to remove the original wood burning stack, the mounting peg stayed on, but the plastic ring around it broke, hence the need for the spacer. i’m not sure how i got it in my head to use a hot wheels cars wheel, but thats the kind of thing that happens when i get bored.
