Looking for someone who owns (or who has operated) the LIONEL TMCC B&O 4-6-2 PACIFIC "President Harrison" #6-28066, or it's sister, the Erie 4-6-2, #6-28067?  Was wondering if it was able to navigate 0-48 curves without a problem.  I see that the specs indicate a minimum radius of 0-54, but I have 0-48 and would love to get this engine. Would like first hand knowledge of this issue if possible!

Thanks!

Lyle, sorry I can't help you on the 28066 President Harrison running on O-48 track. II only ran mine once and that was on O-60. And it ran great, I had it pulling the B&O Columbian streamline cars. I love it more than my Blue Comet set.

Sorry for the blurry photos it was the first time ever that I used TMCC and the first and only that I ever run the President Harrison back 2004. I think that I may have had running a little fast.

I have one that I bought years ago when they were having blow-out sales on them for about half price. Mine does have the Odyssey lurch at start up.

I run mine on 072 curves so I am not sure if they will run on 048 curves. Like you said, they were cataloged to run on 054 curves. The older Blue Comet Pacific's were also cataloged as 054. When those were re-released last year with Legacy, they were cataloged as 036.

Maybe someone can chime in that has one of those Legacy Pacific's from last year to see what curves they will run on.

The Lionel heavy pacific has a interesting history. I bought the Erie K-5 in 2001 at almost half price at Trainworld. Lionel released 2 other heavy 4-2-2 at the same time(B&O president series and a Alto pacific). The B&O president locos were based on the USRA heavy 4-6-2 but built in 1927. Alton never had a USRA Heavy  pacific. Then there was the infamous elongated PRR K-4 that used the existing USRA lower end which was too long for a proper K4. Later on Lionel produced  the SRR PS4s which did have the USRA heavy lower end but with reduced size drivers. Lionel spent the money to come up a new boiler casting which had a USRA light size boiler with a SRR squared cab just like the prototype. Later a Blue Comet 4-6-2 based on the Heavy boiler was offered but again the CNJ had no USRA heavy 4-6-2s.
