I just picked up a Lioncheif Berkshire today and will be repainting it as a Pere Marquette 1225. I was thinking of picking up a 2nd one and making it the 1223.

I would love to double head then.  Besides the lack of a front coupler is there a way to do it?  I could fabricate a front coupler.

If they are both the exact same Locomotives, can I just couple then together and control them with one remote?

Hi • Sounds like a fun project. Lionel has this one coming out this fall. 2017. #1223

How are you going to make the front couplers work? Also how do you make the number?

True, and I am sure she will be beautiful and run well, but I can get a Lioncheif for half the price, and I own a bunch of old Pere Marquette decal sets from Champs.   It will be a fun project.  I only need to find a few sets of 6 wheel trucks to put under the tender.

I have had no problems double heading a Lionchief Basic 0-4-0 Rio Grande with the Lionchief Plus Hudson. Apart from they have different starting speeds, so I start the Hudson first then the 0-4-0. You should have no issues with the Berkshire.

I have been wondering if one could attach a coupler using the front tuck mounting screw, on the Hudson, and avoid having to modify the casting.
