The front electrocoupler on my Alco S-2 has become still and won't open on its own. In two years I have only fired it 25-30 times so it shouldn't be worn out.
I want to lube it, but thought I'd check first: should I use graphite or machine oil?
I tried the Advanced Dry Lube with Teflon and it works great. One application got the Electrocoupler working perfectly. I then tried it on some freight car couplers which have become problematic and they now are trouble free. In one case I really thought I had a mechanical problem and was trying to trouble shoot it - turns out it just needed a squirt of the dry lube.
