Had this diesel for a long time and could never figure out the problem it had after one season of running. I don't have a number but it only has a horn ,lights and forward and reverse . ( well no reverse right now. )
I finally tore it apart and found it was a lot different routing than what I found on my MTH engines. The center rail pickup wire with two breaks in the insulation was sandwiched in a tight channel in the truck frame. I repaired the wire and I had all function except reverse.
THE WIRES FROM IT GO DOWN TO THE SWITCHES IN THE SPEAKER HOUSING.
The connectors and wires seem to be OK and I couldnt see any damaged traces or visually cooked components. I worked the directional switch off and on for awhile but didn't get any good results. The engine goes forward when I have the directional switch in the ON position. I get no response at all when I move it to OFF. Are these reverse units normally reliable ? If not , what commonly goes bad on these.
