I run my stuff at maximum engine volume because of the layout and room size. What do you usually have the volume set at?

Big room loud..small room not so .... i set it for what i think a horn and bell would sound like if i was viewing a real locomotive at visually the the same distance.. conrail john
Depends on the environment. When we're doing a show with lots of noise and a number of engines running, they're pretty loud. At home with just me, not so loud.
I think most of mine are set between 50% & 70% or so, depending on the engine. Seems like some are louder than others and are mostly MTH. I am not sure what the few Lionel's I have are set for?
All my MTH (Diesels) sounds are set at 10% only the horn set at 20% most my Diesels are MU.

Sounds are great; I love them, but sometimes just like to hear the quietness of well oiled machinery.
I turn the volume way down on mine, maybe 25% max. Hearing them is useful, but too much is annoying.
About 75 percent. After the kids go to bed, I turn it down to 50 percent. Love the sounds.
