I have a 20-3293 Proto-2 UP 4-12-2 9000 class engine that adds to the DCS system with engine number only but no engine information. I have deleted the engine and readded but no change. I have done a feature reset, factory reset, and a conventional reset using the whistle and bell buttons. The engine is never been added to a "lash-up". Any ideas on how to fix the problem???? Thanks Bruce

What exactly do you see in the heading?
are all the softkeys wrong? (same symbol or same three letters in all? I forget which).
Are you using a programming track to add?
Is the battery charged fully?
I forget if that means low DCS signal strength or dead battery? Someone will chime in.
The joys of getting older I guess!
Bruce,
If the soft keys are all MTC, then the problem is most likely due to low DCS signal strength.
If the soft keys are as expected, then the board has no engine name in it. This would result if either the original board was replaced or the engine was upgraded to PS2, and whoever put in the board neglected to use the DCS Service Loader Program to give the engine a permeant name.
This and a whole lot more is all in MTH’s “The DCS Companion 3rd Edition", available for purchase from many fine OGR advertisers and forum sponsors, or as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store!
Bruce, If you place another engine on the layout, does it load correctly? If so, do a signal strength test? Is it 10?
What is signal strength when UP9000 is loaded? G
