I have a Lionel 6-38093 on the way with the semi-smart 8 ohm smoker and I want it to smoke at idle for two reasons. One, I like the locos smoking at idle because its more prototypical and two because I think getting the heat out of the box when idling is super important for electronics life. So the question is where can I ground the fan control board to the chuff switch, ala the older TMCC smoke unit mod where you cut the fan ground trace and run a wire from fan ground to the chuff switch? Any help or ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

Well, until the ERR closure stopped my production, the solution to this problem was my Super-Chuffer, it did all of that and more. Besides better timing of the chuffing, I also gave you smoke at idle with reduced fan speed. The S-C also did some nice lighting enhancements, Rule-17 lighting and automatic cab light control.
Yeah I saw that you didn't re-up your SC parts order because of the ERR announcement so I was looking for the workaround. Shouldn't be too difficult but I think going directly from the motor terminal to the chuff switch ground would hurt the motor. I also have some diodes to keep the motor voltage spikes from killing the RS board; just need to know where to tap in to give the fan motor the periodic ground in time with chuffing.
I'm still trying to find a way to do a smaller order so I can keep them going, seems a shame to kill off a neat product.
Agreed. Maybe put a feeler out on this forum for a price hike to support a smaller batch being produced.
