Four years ago i purchased a F3 diesel 2330-20 from Neil Young's auction. The engine just sits and buzzes when under power. When i lift one side of the engine the wheels spin. The motors look fine and the e unit looks good. Should i update to lrcu or repair. I would like to run this engine?? Opinions??

Well, we need some more clarification - a 2330 is a postwar GG1 and a 2330-20 is pretty meaningless. It is possible that you mean 2333-20 which is a common frame casting number found on many postwar F3 units. Help us better identify what you have and we can provide more pointed advice, maybe even provide a few pictures, including with the shell off. My first thoughts based on piecing together what little information provided is that this is most likely have a powertrain issue that needs further investigation. Therefore, changing out the presumed mechanical e-unit for a TMCC (LCRU) type upgrade would not be a "fix".
Looks to be a 2343 with dual horizontal motors. First step would be to service the trucks including cleaning and applying new grease, checking the bearing orientation, and just a general inspection. There is thread on the forum where this is discussed:
Also, it looks like the black triad of wires has been pinched and may require replacement. I also presume that the horn relay and battery bracket was intentionally removed and will be reinstalled.
