Can a factory reset be performed with a Z-1000?
I have several PS-2 up grade locos that do not respond to the 1+5 button action.
Do I need to wait until I take delivery of my DCS TIU?

you need a z4000 mth transformer as far as I know to do a factory reset
It is a conventional reset. Have you tried turning the handle down to around 10 volt output and then the 1 + 5?
That's the transformer I have on my workbench. It works for me. It has unlocked engines stuck in cycle or even scrambled so that they won't respond to the remote's read function.
I do have the Z4000 which is much easier to use for this.
A conventional reset is one whistle and five bells. They have to be fairly closely timed in a 1/2 second cadence in order to work. If you get a double horn honk at the end of the sequence, the reset was recognized. If not, try it again. Note that you should have the throttle below 10 volts for this to work.
Stupid question.....5 bells?......... Is that 5 sets of on-off. on-off, on-off, on-off, on-off,
OR
Five times pushing the bell button.......on, off, on, off, on.

This.
One whistle button push and five bell button pushes in the cadence 1/2 second on, 1/2 second off. Expect the toot-toot at the end if successful. If not, try it again.

It's easier to just show this video from Stan
I guess I am confused what is the issue problem with the "Upgraded Engines" that you need to do a factory reset? Are these older upgrades or newer PS-32 upgrades? G
I have quite a few locos which have a white oval sticker on the bottom of them stating "Ps2 Upgrade".
Most all work fine. A couple of them are disobedient.
That video is great, thank you. I will enter the cave later today.
