Hi All,

I have a question. I’m just sorting out my Fastrack and working on my layout. I noticed some of my 1.75” pieces have a “1” on the bottom and others have a “2”. Is there a difference or anything I should know when using them in combination? I never noticed this before. See pictures. The numbers are on the upper portion above where it says Fastrack TM. . Just wanted to make sure I’m not missing something as I couldn’t seem to find any info by googling this query. Thanks in advance!6404F167-223C-415B-B1D2-B9419A07441CD2750C98-C103-4378-97C8-DBE86BC68DCD

Uberstationmeister - I don't doubt what you say (as I find your comments are always succinct and bright) but I'm just curious - How do you know that?

Is it because that way if there were problems with a run (during manufacturing) they'd be able to trace it back to the problem mold? Or some other logical reason?

Thanks.

When Lionel manufactures an item in large quantities, the mold usually has several numbered cavities in which the Injection Molding machine squirts its stuff.  Flat cars are a great example.  You'll see a numbered suffix on the item, showing which mold it was ejected from.  This way, if a mold deteriorates, they can go right to the suspect cavity, and fix it.
