Anyone out there ever replace the Fastrack Switch Lamp LEDs out from the "cool white" LED to a "warm white" LED. The Cool White comes thru the lenses as Pink and Blue vs Red and Green. Tried the x-26 Clear Orange Paint on the Cool White LED and it helps somewhat. Would like to try a Warm White LED to see how it looks. Anyone know the Specs on those LEDs (Wattage, Voltage, etc...)

No issue, any garden variety white 3mm LED will work. They're all 20ma 3V led's. While you have it apart, I recommend a 200 ohm series resistor, there is a flaw in the lighting circuit that apparently sometimes results in blowing the LED, it's been talked about a lot. Jon Z. recommended a series resistor, and I think that's a very good idea.
Awesome, thx John!
While you can certainly change the LED's, it is much simpler to just paint them with Tamiya Clear Orange (X26). All you need is a small brush or cotton swab. It dims the brightness enough to let the correct colors show.
Here is some help if you want to change the led. I have done three, and it is much easier to just order a new one. I don't consider it a real difficult repair, just not all that easy, either. It is highly recommended that you add a 220 ohm resistor to help stop the problem from happening again.

Nice document John, but you forgot the recommended 220 ohm resistor to keep it from happening again.
Thanks, John. Fixed it.
I didn't see the 220 ohm resistor located in the reference document. Where does it get installed in the replacement process? Also, do you have a link for a specific resistor that you recommend?
Thank you,
Eric
It's in series with the LED lines. Any 220 ohm 1/4W resistor will do the trick.
Thank you!

John I have an off topic question. My friends son has a small layout. He had a simple derailment and blew his Z-750. To keep things going I pulled out a Z-1000. After the holidays is it worth opening up the controller to repair it or just toss it. I was surprised on how easy it was blown.
Well, it's usually the driver triac, so it's not that hard to repair. As to if it's worth it, that's a personal decision.
