COAL! What else would you run a N&W steamer on?
I use the unscented version. My sense of smell isn't real good anyway, and when I used the coal scented Mega-Steam at the toy train museum, visitors would regularly come to me in a state of agitation to inform me that my train was on fire! So much for realism.
I don't have a favorite, but I put different scents in different locos, this way I can decide what I would like to smell at the time. It doesn't get too crazy when running a few at a time, I enjoy all of them.
Cedar is my favorite.

Some train folks use a more natural cologne - BO.
It's good that you are not among them.
I've decided to stick with Lavender Dreams and NADA exclusively. If you accumulate too many varieties, the better chance of it getting funky sticky off color gooey.

'Smoke Pellet' scent. Brings back the 1950s for me.
So far I've only tried Nada and Frying Bacon.
I think about trying other "flavors", but once I get a whiff of bacon I don't care about trying any other smells anymore!
MTH Christmas Scent.

I didn't think it would be, it just didn't "sound" appealing.
But back when Pats Trains was giving us samples, the grape had me walking around with my nose in the air, searching out the wonderful aroma.
It's only available in Colorado.
Dude.
Mega-Steam's coal fired steam and grandpa's pipe smoke are my favorites.
