I know this is useless but can we eliminate the long and at times out dated Featured Topics?
Replies sorted oldest to newest
Some of the featured Topics, such as the link to the OGR Digital Library and the thread about how to post pictures, will stay because they are timeless and I use them regularly. I'll bet I send links to one or the other of those threads at least 5-6 times per week, in answer to questions I get via email.
Some of the others, that are news items can be un-featured after their time has run. I just un-featured a couple like this.
Thanks Rich.
It's getting a bit "crowded" on the top of the forum lately.
While I am in full support of sponsors and announcements, I have to admit that it has become a bit much.
A majority of people's monitors these days lend well to having ads and announcements on the side. Being that wide screen displays are becoming much the norm. I'd like to suggest moving the sponsor ads to the right side or the announcements to the right side. It would be nice to have actual forum messages on the first page again. It is after all why we come here :-)
For now I've turned on my ad blocker to filter the top. Usually, I have the OGR forum as an exception because well... I actually do shop for trains.
Well guys....Because of the limitations we have on where we are able to put ads, this is why you see them where they are. It is amazing the number of folks that have emailed me personally to say how much they appreciate having more sponsors and choices. AND...we appreciate being able to put our sponsors ads in positions where they get noticed...that is what they want and what they pay for. AND...since they pay, this allows folks like you to have this forum free! The welcome threads stay up for a minimum of two weeks and this is what we will continue to do as it gives anyone that wants to express their appreciation a chance to do so...
Thanks,
Alan
Saturday when I logged in, there were no featured topics, but today they are back. Is there a way that you could perhaps make an option to see the featured posts or not?
The Featured Topics are ALWAYS there. Not sure why you didn't see them on Saturday.
