I have a lionel 6-27451 NS HERITAGE CONRAIL UNIBODY TANK CAR.
One coulper is broken, I know it can be taped/wired to another car but would prefer a new coupler.
Hopefully the pictures will help my description.

Brent; This one can be fixed, but you'll have to order a new knuckle + coupler spring + at least one coupler rivet to return it to operating condition. You'll have to assemble the knuckle with its operating spring and then insert the retaining rivet. Once you have it back together and everything works, you'll have to peen/flare the base of the rivet to keep it together.
If you don't feel up to doing the repair, you'll either have to send the truck to someone who does, or buy a new truck assembly which won't be cheap.

I recommend a dozen springs and rivets....springs more. The first time is going to be fun with the little spring

I haven't had to repair a coupler on anything newer than MPC era cars. I do repair a lot of couplers. Mostly postwar with bad springs or the late postwar or MPC ones with the plastic spring. Does anyone know if the modern couplers use the same knuckle as the postwar couplers?
To repair the coupler I found it easiest to insert the rivet part way. Then place the spring over the rivet. Next hold the knuckle up against the rivet and slowly back the rivet out just far enough to slide the knuckle into place without the spring being sent flying. Slide the rivet back in and peen it. Inspect the spring to make sure the end that rest against the knuckle is bent to as close to 90* as can be before using. I have purchased springs in the past that were not bent correctly. Easy fix with good set of needle nose pliers. I use a Lionel press to peen the rivets. I knew one fellow that used the Brakeman's Riveter for most of his repairs.

I'm guessing you didn't upload the images to the OGR Forum?
Actually, he did upload them to OGR in the second post, I can see them and their properties show they're on the OGR servers.
That coupler repair is just a knuckle replacement as stated, I do a lot of those.

Do the postwar knuckles fit in the modern couplers. I've had to modify a couple of knuckles to use on K-line cars. As posted above have never had to fix a modern Lionel coupler.

I've had some issues interchanging K-Line and Lionel knuckles, but I've used the PW knuckles on modern cars. I know that MTH and Lionel knuckles are slightly different and don't interchange, at least the ones I tried didn't.

A forum member gave me the parts ,
I do not know where the spring (a tiny thing, lost and found it twice). Hopefully , someone will tell me where the spring goes.
