A fix that was not so typical.

had a friend bring me his postwar

F7s NYC Lionel. The old 2 motor,

stump puller, growler!!!!!!!!!

put it on the test track and one motor would

not go. it acted like it wanted to run but just

would not turn.

after much searching and pushing and pulling, I noticed that

the horseshoe that surrounds the armature was loose on its

motor mount. I pulled the brush plate off and carefully

aligned the post on my anvil and using a Phillips head screw

driver and hammer, gave the other end of the mounting rivet

a wack. this tightened up the motor mount and off she ran.

ran it around my train board for about 20 min.

Happy fix, happy customer!!!!!

Fantastic!  This is something you can hardly do with most of the current market.  An attempt to do so could break a circuit board, or would require shipping the whole thing back to be replaced.

This is a reason why I like PW trains: it shows we don't have to be a disposable society and can just do some simple fixes and maintenance to have something run for decades.

2343's pulling around the bend the 7 aluminum cars of the Anniversary set; pulls them with ease. Its amazing how sure footed these F3's with the twin horizontal drive are. Real stump pullers, and does so without any traction tires. I have no doubt that 2333 would be able to pull the 7 cars as well.

These 2343's are operator units that have TMCC put into them. An idler gear recently wore out and I just replaced it. Here the units where going through the paces with the new part.

The units never had electricity pumped through them when I obtained them. They were solely played with by pushing them by hand. They even have the original sintered copper motor brushes.
