I have a problem with my Lionel alco with the err mini commander in it. It will respond to the thumb wheel but after a while the thumbwheel will not respond and the loco will stop.

The engine will not change directions but the aux 2 will turn the head light on and off.

The engine is in TMCC mode but when in cab 1 mode it won't work at all. Only responds to headlight on off command.

I'm using the cab 2 and a Z1000 brick connected to the track. I'm using the legacy 990 set. I don't have nother tmcc engine to test it with.

The train brake doesn't effect it if it is on + or -.

Thanks, Liam

Offhand, it sounds like the drivers are overheating and shutting down.  The MiniCommander isn't designed to haul a large load, it's pretty much for a small locomotive and a couple of cars.  The MiniCommander could also have a problem.  Of course, testing with another locomotive would also eliminate other possible sources of issues like the Legacy system...

I think I fixed the problem.

The engine pulls 5 plastic trucked cars (included in the set) so I didn't think I was overloading it. I opened it up and the antenna was loose on the board. It seems to work fine now. The engine has two beep style can motors but I will be extra careful only to pull the set cars.
