Just replaced a PS-2 board in a premier NYC L4b 4-8-2. It is a stock PS-2 replacement board. Loaded the file off the web and everything works correctly with the exception of the quilling whistle. The whistle icon shows on softkey #1 like it should, but when I press the thumbwheel and scroll no sound. Did I load the sound file wrong, that it is supposed to be a flash file? I am using version 5.0 DCS and I thought it would load a flash file automatically. What am I doing wrong?

I believe the board you put in the model has to have the quillable whistle feature in it for it to work.
Quill won't work on a "stock" PS2 board..You need a special PS2 board for that. And if you had that special board, MTH would have to load the soundfile onto it.
PS3 boards can be "flashed" at home.
Casey is correct. All good info. What you need done needs to be done at MTH.
OK, thanks for the info 9943, Casey and Marty. I ordered the PS-2 replacement after MTH sent notice that they are no longer pre-loading replacement boards, and forgot to specify I was going to need a flash processor. Does MTH have separate part numbers for standard and flash processor boards?Just answered my own question, there is........duh!
Yes, AE-0000014. Unfortunately MTH is out of stock. Some reworked boards may be available soon. Check the processor chip on the board, if it "DOES NOT have the MTH logo, the board is a flash type and you could send it to MTH for flashing.
I do have one flashed for quillable whistle if you have an exchange flash board. G
