I've got a Flyer 1096 that I'm trying to get back into running order. It has been thoroughly cleaned and lubricated, but when put on the track and AC power applied, it just sits there and makes a terrific grinding noise...barely moves. If I use an old DC pack that I have, it takes off and runs like a banshee (albeit quite noisily). What's going on here? There are no modifications to the motor evident. The factory maintenance card says "DO NOT APPLY LUBRICANT TO THE COMMUTATOR". I used a bit of spray electronic cleaner when polishing the face of the commutator...is it possible that might be the problem? Seems unlikely to me, but it's an enigma at this point.
Thanks for any/all help.
