Are you referring to the Lionel prewar FY or the Lionel 2008 version?
I don’t know if the pre war version used rollers or slide shoe pickups. If slide shoes, they might get caught on the Super O buss connectors. Rollers should be fine.
the 2008 Lionel version requires minimum 31” diameter curves, so Super O at 36” diameter is more than sufficient.
MTH also has issued their version of the FY butI am not familiar with it. If in their RailKing line, it should work fine on Super O
The prewar Thank you Mack
You’re welcome , Dennis.
FWIW, I have run some prewar Lionel on my Super O with the slide shoe pickups and some work just fine while others occasionally lift up the odd center rail bus connector.
if you are just trying to verify what diameter the FY requires, the prewar version was made to run on the original O-31 O gauge track, so Super O is A-O-K!
That said, I do not have a FY, and some tinplate wheel flanges are too tall for Super O resulting n the wheel flanges literally contacting the Super O ties resulting in the car, engine bumping along.
The Prewar will not run on Super O track. The flanges are to deep and it bumps all the way down. Sorry! I have both items in question so I am familiar.
Ok thanks appreciate the info.
