are the menards and rmt freight cars scale or tinplate size?
they look fairly impressive in pix but?
curious before seriously purchasing.

Never seen an RMT car in person but most of the things they make are tinplate/postwar size and not scale. I have seen their RDCs in person and they are not to scale. Menards is likely the same way.
The non-definitive answer (i.e. the only one) is...:
Depends on which Menards freight car you're talking about.
Some are close, most are not. Which ones are you looking at?
