Well everyone, Happy F.E.F. and Happy Labor Day weekend.  Great pictures all...@BAR GP& #63 .... Oh Man the "T" , shades of our year of living in Boston (actually Needham) and riding the T....glad its still there!

Well today I have the first pictures of a new engine on the property.  An MPC Lionel U36B Southern RR diesel from 1979.  I just acquired it for my southern themed layout (Leonardtown and Savannah) and I had been looking for a Southern RR loco for some time.  This one from the Austin train show last weekend.  Hopefully for SwSat, I will have some pictures of her in operation...today its cleaning and lubricating and getener' goin!

Here is the F.E.F. view:

The Terryville Engine Servicing and Storage Yard is filled this morning with 4 locomotives serviced and awaiting their assignments for the day. To the rear of each siding are two 3-unit Diesels, a B&O EMD F series and a PRR Alco lash-up. Ahead of the Diesels are 2 PRR steam locomotives, a K-4s Pacific and a USRA 0-6-0 switcher. They are all made by MTH with Proto-Sound 2. On the main line, a boxcar train of 17 cars curves around the harbor pulled by a Lionel, post war, 736 Berkshire (my first Lionel engine from Christmas, 1952). This coming Christmas will be its 70th year on the tracks. That was from the era when Lionel made them to last!

Don,

Boston is a great city. We spent three days in Boston, mostly shooting commuter trains.

Johan

@BAR GP7 #63 - Glad you showed those pictures as its good to know that the trains are still running.  We lived in Needham from 1982-83 but I commuted into the city most days.  In those days the "T" still had PCC cars running on some surface lines and they had a line that went to the Ball Park!! I agree Boston is a fun city (as long as you don't have to drive around it...)

Best wishes

Don,

Our motel was located in Wakefield, where there was also commuter rail service, so it was also always good to start the day at Wakefield station. In three days, not much gathered to see Boston, but at least we got to see the local train service in addition to the subay and trams.

Still reaching back in time for mine.  The hard thing for me is that I can only choose from the images that I have on file already.  In 2007 and 2008 I obviously wasn't taking specific images to use in this post so I have to settle on what I took back then.  Not always the best angles.

these 2 are from my 2007 Christmas Layout

this one is from myy 2008 Christmas Layout
