Strasburg RR
It's been a long time since I've been to the Strasburg, I didn't realize they had the N&W 475 there.

Yea- they were running 475 opposite 611 over the summer. Pretty cool to see both engines together and under steam.
Here are some photos of Conway Scenic Railroad engines from a few years ago. The diesel was unexpected; we were at a trail head when it came by. The steamer was taken at their station in Conway, NH.
FEF, a project from many years ago. A repro Paya truck front, a Marx caboose in the back. Powered by a K-Line speeder chassis. Light bar works. Has a ERR sound board.

Happy FEF! Here is a front end view from one of the yard areas in my under layout subway. Looks like the R-17 #5 line and R-62 #4 line are backing out for service -
Great pic’s everyone. On travel in airport ( waiting of course) so can’t post today. Will catch up next week.
Have a great weekend

Thanks Don. Been having a rough day. This is my happy place!

Sorry to hear that Bob. As I’m sure you know, the anecdote for a rough day is a glass of your preferred libation and a running of the trains. Heck, the smell of ozone is enough to give me a lift, LOL!

Thanks Strap.
Fortunately the day made a turn for the better this afternoon. Didn't stop me from my second glass of Pinot though. Ozone therapy is next. 👍👍🤣🤣
Santa Cruz Big Trees and Pacific Railroad FP7 rolling across the intersection of Pacific Ave. and Beach St. on it's way back to Roaring Camp from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The FP7 has to be one of the ugliest locomotives I've seen personally! Big Trees has 2 FP7's purchased from AT&SF after they were converted from F7 covered wagon's! Santa Fe removed the beautiful F7 body and made what you see in this photo and they were relegated to yard duty until they were sold to Big Trees. The loco is ugly, but the day was beautiful, and don't you wish you were riding that train heading up into the Santa Cruz Mountains and Redwoods.
I may have posted this photo before in this forum, I don't remember. Enjoy it twice. ;-)

FYI: It's a CF7, not an FP7.
CF7's were also used on local freights.
Santa Fe did a little more than "remove" the F7 body. The CF7 was a total rebuild right down to the frame because an F-unit carbody is part of the supporting structure.

Very admirable, Bob... fighting global warming by helping to restore the earth’s ozone layer running one old engine a day

Think what we all could do if we all ran our PW every day. 😂😂👍👍
Thanks Paul

Rusty, yes you are correct CF7, apparently open enrollment has taken a toll on my feeble mind. Thanks for correcting me. It's still ugly!
Happy Front End Friday everyone.
Still clip from my video of CSX #9004 (C40-9W) rumbling rocks thru a Tri-Rail station last month.
Here’s my contribution to FEF! It’s a classic GP9 from Lionel issued in 1997. It’s a Pennsylvania model, and although it doesn’t have the detail of today’s engines, it was my first with TMCC and RailSounds. I only run conventional, but these sound great, from the EMD 567 engine to the “blat” of the horn. It brings me back to the late 50’s, and the sounds of these in the Hoboken terminal, although those were DL&W engines. I moved out here in 1995, so I had to have it. It still runs and sounds great!
Here is old shot of the layout before the yard overhaul. These two switchers are still running strong -
Well hello F.E.F folks, can't believe another week has gone by already...but here we are again checking out those "front ends". Flyplanes, Amfleet 25124,& mikeg those front ends of modern diesels (or real ones) are neat. rjsmithindy the GS-4 is really beautiful. Strap hanger great yard switchers and tnkmarx I like those 45 ton engines and I see some scale Marx and a 588 type switcher in the background. Artie-DL&W that is a real classic Lionel GP7.
So today, I am going to try to be a little different. I am posting some front ends from some early UK toys from a company called "Brimtoy" or "Wells-Brimtoy" . These little guys are 0 gauge and clockwork but were always on the low end of the toy market compared with say Hornby. I just like the way they look, although they do run but their clockwork mechanisms are not particularly strong.
Here is the Brimtoy "Britannia" locomotive with his "Lion and Wheel" tender
And here is the Brimtoy "Silver Streak" which also should have a tender but alas I don't have it!
Happy Friday everyone, have a good weekend.
Don
Happy FEF!
Don- I'm constantly amazed at the simplicity of the old toys. And the kids back then had all the fun in the world with them too!
Here's a front end for this week. I know that "F" is on the long hood but I like running GEEPS short hood forward.
