I ran the G gauge live steam engine my Dad left me for the first time Sunday.I always thought it was the ultimate in model engines.Controlling the speed needs constant adjustments due to the slight grades in the yard.It is a lot of fun firing it up and watching it run around the backyard.

The name of the manufacturer is Roundhouse Live Steam.They still sell live steam engines and parts.This one my Dad bought used about twenty years ago.He upgraded the radio control system and showed me how to use it while he was in hospice.He was in is final months and he wanted to make sure I could run the engine once he was gone.

Dan, I think it's awesome that you are running your dads live steam engine.

Sounds like fun.

I ran small scale live steam for years. It's the closest we can get to running full size engines.
