I'm searching for pictures of the pilots on this engine. My G scale MTH versions have huge cut-outs for the truck's coupler swing. I would like to fill it in as I add body mounted KDs. I might as well try and make it look closer to the real thing. As I'm searching for photos, I started thinking that a picture of a new engine might be clearer. I couldn't find any demo pictures? Now I'm wondering if I've ever seen any?

The GE wide cabs and short hoods have been virtually identical since the C40-8W (some variations with respect to the nose), with changes to the long hoods, trucks and chassis. I should pull my collection out and photograph them, but it's a hassle. I'm as enamored with the GE wide cabs as I am with the SD70ACe's which is a constant threat to the train slush fund.

Edit to post: Did find demonstrator photos. Have not found a listing for a C40-8W demonstrator, though.

My MTH G engines are ten years old. I've never lost any gear... axle gear, or idler gear, or sideframe bushing, or......

I don't think I'll need any as after ten years, they still look new! Take a look inside of yours, or not. I have. Soon, you'll have to too. If you as you claim, have all that experience, you must have called for many plastic gears by now.

We're here to discuss real trains. I wonder if you can refrain? If not, I'll debate you when you're ready.
