is there some thing that will soften up the old grease in truck block. With the motor out I can see where the worm gear engages the gears. Is it necessary to completely dismantle the truck to get to the gears in the front of the truck body. This has not been worked on in a long long time. Thanks Tstark.

Alcohol and a Q tip does the job for me and rotate the wheels or motor to get at all the gears. The I grease it up with some white lithium from ACE hardware.

What you will find inside.
An F3 Pullmor motor power truck:
The truck-frame can be separated from the gear-block by removing this screw:
This is what you then see:
The gear-shaft can be lifted out.

Growing old is so much more fun than the only alternative.
Thanks to all that answered. I bought these engines and the 2500 passenger cars in early 60 s . They haven’t been run since some time in the 70s. Be interesting to see if I can bring them back. Tstark
Naptha lighter fluid (Ronsol or Zippo) has worked for me in dissolving old grease. Electrical contact cleaner can melt some away but won't get it all out. I would try both, alternating between the two.
I use Mineral Spirits to clean all the old grease from chambers, gears etc. Then once wiped clean, I use Lucas Oil Products Red N Tacky #2 for gears. Its probably the best grease out there, and binds well and never comes off like Rob stated above. It even quiets down some of the noiser growler motors from the 50's. Just a little dab goes a long way
