What is the red device with the levers to the left of the Z4000? Looks like a neat device, I think I might need one of those, just as soon as I find out what it is...
That is a Lionel pre-war control panel with 6 knife switches, two switch controllers and a light. Model 439 (There are several variants on these panels).

Thanks, some of those old devices are really nice looking (and probably pretty well made too). Yours appears to be in very good condition. It would be nice if the could reproduce some of these items at a reasonable price (kinda like the tinplate reproductions we have now), they just might sell a few?
Lionel and AF also made control panels that were built into tinplate switch towers. MTH did do a reproduction of those in their tinplate traditions series. I have not seen the panel like the one in the picture reproduced. You still Got that one at York in the fall of 2013.
