Finally got these little suckers dialed in, now just trying to find filament that matches, or compliments at least, the paint on the walls. For something so seemingly simple, these were more complicated than I expected.

Cool, are you going to put these in the 3D library? I could use a few of these at my RR.
I certainly can! I wasn't sure if there were any rules I'd be breaking (there are a LOT of rules around here) since I thought GS was a forum sponsor.
Yes - Please add to 3D lib.
Thanks
JIm
Okay, I uploaded the zip file with a picture and the .stl. I think I followed all the rules, so hopefully it'll get added soon! Let me know if you have any feedback.
Not to dampen anyone's spirits, but you may want to connect with a specialist in the field who can advise you if you are violating anyone's patent rights.

Nobody is selling the design or offering the product for direct sale. They are merely offering (for free) a design mold that allows someone to make their own end caps based on what GSDS already provides. The end result is a different product from what GSDS sells.
Yeah, I don't want to step on anyone's toes. I wanted them in different colors/textures and they weren't available, so I created the model from scratch. I'd never think of selling it, especially in a community like this. Just sharing because others might find it useful.
Hi, can someone direct me to the page where this file is? I’ve looked at the 3D downloads topic and this is the most recent post I see….from 2 years ago.
I must be looking in the wrong area. Thanks.

J.Dooley’s 3D project has been submitted, but it’s not in the OGR 3D catalog quite yet.
There is background work that has to be done on every 3D Catalog submission. I have to work up two good images of the project, an experienced 3D modeler reviews the files to be sure that they will be trouble-free, and I have to add it to the master 3D SQL database on the web server.
It will likely get into the catalog tomorrow. I’ll post a link here when it goes live.

Cool, I have a few shelf ends that would benefit from this.
OK Folks, here ya go! J.Dooley's End Caps in the OGR 3D Catalog.
Digital subscribers can download the files HERE. If you are not an OGR Digital subscriber, CLICK HERE to get yours. It will then take a few minutes before the transaction is completed and you can download the files.
Exciting. :-) Thank you @Rich Melvin
Thank YOU, Jeramiah! Keep 'em coming!
I have a new handheld 3D scanner coming shortly, and I'm very interested to see how it does with complex parts....like JLC zinc-rotted GG-1 truck frames.

I started a new thread on the GG1 sideframes as I think it's of considerable interest to a number of folks.
3D Printing the JLC GG1 Sideframes

I had a few of the GS shelves that I wanted caps for, and a friend was really excited about getting those. I printed a few for my remaining shelves and printed him a whole box of them, he was quite happy!
Awesome, John! That makes me happy. I'm going to try and add the rail stops as well for people who aren't using the end caps. I'd also love to come up with some kind of name tag that clips on to the front of the shelves to be able to label things. I haven't found anything that already exists, so I think designing and printing is going to be the best option.
Anyone making an improved connector pin for these shelves?
Love my GSDS shelves. Hate the connector pins.
I agree about the connector pins. Pretty sure all they are a regular roll pin you can get from any hardware store, Menards, or Harbor Freight.
Yep, the GS supplied connector pins are indeed just roll pins.

I purchased a couple hundred of Glass shelve label clips that worked great on GSDS. There are two types. One that is like a T and One like an L. The L one has a slight angle so you can put it in the shelf one way if high and another if the shelf is low. I use the T ones if the shelf is eye level.

Ohhh, man. I never thought about glass shelf labels, but that looks like it'll work great. Just bought a couple different kinds from Amazon, will be here tomorrow. Thanks Curtis!

I put up hundreds of feet of GSDS shelves and quickly switched from the rolled pins to using 2in zinc-plated mending plates and machine screws. They fit perfectly between the rails, hold everything together well, and didn't require a hole-punch and hammer. A quick hit with the recip tool to trim the bottom off the screws and it's perfect.

I like that, much nicer than the rolling stock bumping over the pins. Too bad I didn't think of that when I was putting the shelves up, no way I'm going back to change it now!

I am going to keep an eye out for ones that are wider and not as tall, but these definitely work. Thanks again for the inspiration!
